Leaving The Vehicle

LUGGAGE

  • When lifting a heavy box or suitcase you should look ahead when the load is secure.  

  • You should stand in a stable position when lifting a heavy object. 

  • Passengers should take all their belongings with them when you arrive at your destination.

  • You should wear a high visibility vest while unloading luggage from your vehicle.  

LEAVING THE VEHICLE

  • You should switch off the engine before leaving your vehicle parked on a public road. (Turning the key and turning the master switch off)

  •  You must apply the parking brake before you leave your vehicle. (Applying the parking brake)

AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS

  • You should be aware of vehicles passing near the door before opening your cab door.

  • You need to take account of your vehicle having air suspension when you’re parked close to another vehicle.

HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS

  • You should use hazard warning lights when approaching queuing traffic on a motorway.

  • You may use hazard warning lights whilst driving when on motorways or dual carriageways, to warn drivers behind of a hazard ahead.  

  • You can use hazard warning lights when children are getting off a school bus.
